Below you will find the free pattern for the Small Talk Infinity Scarf!

It is the first pattern release of December, and if you are a Swiftie you know what that means…That the new collection for this month is based off of Taylor Swift’s song “Back to December”! Because of course! Back to December is the 3rd track from Taylor’s 3rd album, Speak Now. Therefore I’ve got 3 patterns coming to you this month! The first is the Small Talk Infinity Scarf.

Pattern Notes:

• This pattern is for an advanced beginner.
• This scarf is worked in the round, without turning after each row.
• It is best to fasten off each color when indicated rather than try to carry the yarn.
• Blocking is optional. Measurements and gauge are all listed as unblocked.

Materials:

• 438 total yards Chunky #5 weight yarn. 245 yards of color 1, and 193 yards of color 2.
• Sample used Cherub Chunky from Cascade Yarns. 55% Nylon / 45% Acrylic. Color 1 was Blue Coral and Color 2 was Ecru.
• Size K/6.50mm Crochet Hook
• Tapestry needle
• Scissors

Abbreviations:

Measurements:

• This pattern is written for 1 size.
• Finished measurements as written are approximately 7.5″w x 38″long when folded – 76″ long overall.

Gauge:

Gauge is 10 single crochet x 6 rows of the pattern = 4″ x 4″ as below. When measuring height, skip row 1 as shown above.

NOTE: Stitch count is going to be weird here. Disregard it as this stitch pattern works better in the round as the actual scarf is written.

To make Swatch:

Row 1: Fsc 12. Turn.

Row 2: Ch 2, Puff in same and in each st across. Turn

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn.

Row 4: Ch 4 (counts as Tr), sk 1, *TrV in next, sk 1. Repeat from * across. Tr in last st. Turn

Row 5: Ch 4, Tr in between 1st Tr and 1st TrV, Sk TrV, *TrV in between TrVs, sk TrV. Repeat from * across. Leave last Tr unworked. Turn.

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in 1st Tr, sc in 1st ch1sp, sk Tr, *sc in between Trvs, sk tr, sc in ch1sp, sk Tr. Repeat from * across. Sc in begch4. Turn.

Row 7: Ch 2, puff in same and in each st across.

Pattern Instructions:

Round 1: With C1, Fsc 162. Being careful not to twist, sl st to 1st.

Rnd 2: Ch 2, Puff in same and in each st around. Sl st to 1st puff. 162 puff sts.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in each st around. Change to C2 during Sl st to 1st sc. Fasten off C1. 162 sc.

Rnd 4: Ch 5 (counts as Tr ch 1 here and throughout), Tr in same, sk 1, *TrV in next, sk 1. Repeat from * around. Sl st to 4th ch of begch5. 81 TrV stitches.

Rnd 5: Ch 5, Tr in same sp, sk next TrV, *TrV in between Trs, sk TrV. Repeat from * around. Sl st to 3th ch of begch5.

Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in 1st ch1sp, sk Tr, *sc in between Trvs, sk tr, sc in ch1sp, sk Tr. Repeat from * around. Switch to C1 during sl st to 1st. Fasten off C2. 162 sc.

Rnds 7-11: Repeat Rounds 2-6.

Rnds 12-13: Repeat rounds 2-3.

Fasten off & Weave in all ends!
