Hi, its me, Emily at Crochet Aweigh! The “I Think He Knows” collection is back this week and the newest addition is the Under That Attitude Hat! This is giving bucket hat vibes, with a girly flair! This hat is very beginner friendly! It uses almost entirely double crochet stitches.

This yarn is DK from Bad Sheep Yarn, and they do such an amazing job with their colors! This color is called “Murex”, and is actually a color from their Summer line, but it was the perfect color to bring to the “I Think He Knows” collection. As October is National Wool month we are sticking with the theme of using wool yarns from indie dyers for all designs in October. Bad Sheep Yarn is based out of Pensacola, FL.

Pattern Notes:

• This pattern is beginner friendly.
• The hat is worked without turning after each round.
• The hat is written for adult size.
• A Chain 2 does NOT count as a stitch, but a chain 3 DOES count.
• I crochet tighter than most, so you may want to go down a hooks size or two.

Materials:

• 225 yards of DK (3) weight 100% wool or wool blend. Sample used 1 skein Bad Sheep Yarn DK in the color Murex.
• US size G/4.00 mm crochet hook
• Soft Tape Measure
• Tapestry Needle
• Scissors

Abbreviations:

Gauge:

Gauge is the first 5 rounds of the hat = 4.5″ across.

Pattern Instructions:

Ch 4, sl st to form ring.

Round 1: Ch 2 (does not count as DC here and throughout), 12 dc into the ring. Sl st to 1st dc.

Rnd 2: Ch 2, 2dc in each st around. Sl st to 1st dc. 24 sts.

Rnd 3: Ch 2, 2dc in 1st, 1 dc in next, (2 dc in next, 1 dc in next) around. Sl st to 1st dc. 36 sts.

Rnd 4: Ch 2, 2 dc in 1st, dc in next 2, (2 dc in next, dc in next 2) around. Sl st to 1st dc. 48 sts.

Rnd 5: Ch 2, 2 dc in 1st, dc in next 3, (2 dc in next, dc in next 3) around. Sl st to 1st. 60 sts.

Rnd 6: Ch 2, 2 dc in 1st, dc in next 4, (2 dc in next, dc in next 4) around. Sl st to 1st. 72 sts

Rnd 7: Ch 2, 2 dc in 1st, dc in next 5, (2 dc in next, dc in next 5) around. Sl st to 1st. 84 sts

Rnd 8: Ch 1, sc in 1st, sk 2, 5dc in next, sk 2, (sc in next, sk 2, 5 dc in next, sk 2) around. Sl st to 1st sc. 12 shells.

Rnd 9: Ch 3 (DOES count as dc here and throughout), 2 dc in same, sk 2, sc in next, sk 2, (5 dc in next sc, sk 2, sc in next, sk 2) around. Place 2 sc in the same st as begch, sl st to begch. 12 shells.

Rnds 10-17: Repeat rounds 8-9.

Rnd 18: Ch 3, dc in same, 2dc in each st around. Sl st to begch. 168 dc.

Rnd 19: Ch 3, dc in same, 1 dc in next, (2dc in next, 1 dc in next) repeat around. Sl st to begch. 252 dc.

Rnds 20-21: Ch 3, dc in each st around. Sl st to begch.

Fasten Off & weave in ends.
