Hi, its me, Emily at Crochet Aweigh! The last pattern for National Wool Month is Taylor’s Scarf (Tunisian Version). The name of this pattern is a play on how Taylor Swift re-recorded many of her albums and added (Taylor’s Version) to the end of each title. With that being said, there is no non-Tunisian version of this scarf…yet. Maybe someday!
RED (Taylor’s Version) was the 2nd re-record album the Taylor released and that album included the song that became my FAVORITE song in her entire discography. All Too Well 10 minute version is my absolute favorite song ever. It made me wish that all of her songs were 10 minutes long because it was so heart-wrenching, emotional, and lyrically deep. So poetic.
This scarf is inspired by that song and I tried to incorporate it in several parts of the design. If you have seen All Too Well the short film or even listened to the shorter version of the song, she mentions a scarf that she leaves at her lover’s sister’s house, so naturally the first pattern in the “All Too Well” collection HAD to be a scarf. I chose Tunisian crochet because it is a layer above regular crochet, therefore adding complexity and deepness (like the song) without making the pattern too complicated. I chose a border that reminded me of how a bridge looks. And if you know Taylor, you know that the bridge is her favorite part of the song to write. The All Too Well 10 Minute Version bridge is undeniably incredible, compelling, and powerful so we needed a nod to the bridge in the scarf design. Part of the fun of designing these Taylor Swift themed patterns is all about figuring out to incorporate the little details.
The yarn featured with this pattern is Superwash DK from Dizzy Blonde Studios. Laura does her yarn dyeing in Port St. Lucie, FL. This superwash DK is so incredibly soft, and it feels amazing! We refer to this yarn as Puppy Dog DK because each color in this DK line is named after one of Laura’s current or previous dogs!

Pattern Notes:
- This pattern would be good for an advanced beginner.
- The Tunisian section is worked in rows back and forth and then the border is added.
- There is no turning during the border.
- I tend to crochet tightly so you may want to check gauge with a smaller hook first.
- Blocking is essential due to the curling that Tunisian crochet is prone to.
- 1 row of Tunisian crochet is the “forward pass” and the “return pass”
Materials:
- 560 yards of DK Weight (3) yarn
- Sample used 2 skeins of Dizzy Blonde Studios Superwash DK in Color Schatzi
- Size J/6.00mm Tunisian Crochet Hook
- Size H/5.00mm Crochet Hook
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors

Abbreviations:
- Ch – Chain
- Sl St – Slip Stitch

- Sc – Single Crochet
- Dc – Double Crochet
- RS – Right side
- WS – Wrong Side
Measurements:
- This pattern is written for 1 size.
- Finished measurements as written are approximately 8″wide x 88″ long including the border
Gauge:
Gauge is 18 Tunisian Simple stitches by 13 full rows = 4″ x 4″ Blocked.
Pattern Instructions:
Starting with the J Tunisian Hook, Ch 25.
Row 1: Ts in 2nd ch and in each across. Ch 1 & Return pass. 24 sts.
Row 2: Ch 1, skip the 1st vertical bar, Ts in each st across. Ch 1 & Return pass.
Repeat row 2 until you have 256 total rows, or until desired length. If you do make your scarf longer or shorter, make sure the number of rows you have is a multiple of 4.
Next: Cast off by placing 1 sl st in each st across. Turn work 90 degrees to work along the edge. Do not fasten off.
Border:
Switch to H hook.
Row 1: Ch 1, 1 sc in corner, *1 sc in each row end to next corner, place (sc ch 2, sc) in corner, 1 sc in each st across to corner,* (sc ch 2, sc) in next corner. Repeat between * once more. Place 1 sc in same st as 1st. Sl st to 1st. Do not turn. 256 sc on each long side, 24 sc on each short side, 4 corners with 2 sc & ch2sp each. NOTE: If you chose to make your scarf longer or shorter, make sure your sc along the long edges add up to a multiple of 4. 256 / 4 = 64
Row 2: Sl st into 1st sc on the long side [we are skipping the corner (sc, ch2, sc)]. Ch 4 (counts as dc + ch 1), sk next sc , *dc in next, ch 1, sk next sc. Repeat from * to next corner. (dc, ch 2, dc) in corner.
[Ch 1, sk sc of corner, *dc in next, ch 1, sk sc. Repeat from * across to next corner. (dc, ch 2, dc) in corner.] Repeat between [ ] once more.
Ch 1, sk sc of corner, *dc in next, ch 1, sk sc. Repeat across to last corner. (dc, ch 2, dc) in last corner, ch 1, sl st to 3rd ch of begch4.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in same, {*ch 5, sk [ch 1, dc, ch 1], sc in next dc. Repeat from * across. Your last sc should be in the 1st dc of the corner. ** (sc, ch 2, sc) in the corner, sc in next dc}. Repeat between { } three times, on the 3rd time ending at **. (sc, ch 2, sc) in corner, sk next dc, sl st to 1st sc.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in same, *7sc in each ch5sp across to next corner, (sc, ch 2, sc) in corner, sk next 2 sc. Repeat from * around. After last corner end with sl st to 1st sc. Fasten off.
Weave in all ends & Wet Block. Your Scarf is done!
