Discover Crochet Aweigh: Eustis’s Welcoming Local Yarn Shop

Below is what you can expect when you visit our yarn shop, Crochet Aweigh, in Eustis Florida.

Crochet Aweigh is located in friendly Eustis, Florida. Eustis-Tavares-Mount Dora are all kind of “sister cities” if you will. They often collaborate on events and are all very close to one another. Crochet Aweigh was previously located in Tavares, but in April of 2026 we relocated to a much larger location in downtown Eustis. We are now much more equipped to host stitch nights and classes!

Eustis is located about 40 minutes Northwest of Orlando. It is a wonderful little town with a quaint downtown area. It is home to lots of festivals and events like “First Fridays”, a vendor and food festival EVERY first Friday of the month, Georgefest in March, a weekend festival for George Washington’s birthday, a weekly Farmer’s Market on Wednesday nights, and so many more!

Some of the restaurants include: the Eustis Marketplace (a food hall with multiple dining options), the Lake Eustis Waterfront grille, Magnolia Breeze, the Crazy Gator, Rosa Mezcal Cocina, Sol De Mexico and many more!

Crochet Aweigh is located at 303 N Grove Street, Unit 3, Eustis, FL 32726. If you are using Google Maps then it is important that you put in the unit number so that it brings you to our front door, which actually faces Clifford Street. Our building is a long, skinny brown building and only unit 1, Lickity Split Ice Cream, actually faces Grove Street.

Parking:

There are several parallel spots directly in front of the building on Clifford Street. There are additional spots across the street. There is ADA/handicap parking with a ramp behind our building. If you utilize the parking behind the building, our door is directly at the top of the ramp and there is a doorbell. Normally we keep the door locked for security reasons, but if you knock or ring the bell we will let you in of course! There is a large grassy lot at the corner of Clifford and Grove opposite the post office. That is available parking. Just a tad further up on Clifford (closer to Bay Street) is a large parking lot. So there is parking a-plenty!

Our immediate Neighbors:

Lickity Split is in Unit 1 at 303 N Grove Street. They have SO many ice cream favors, along with dairy-free options. I haven’t been in just yet, but I hear great things!

Feast is in Unit 2 at 303 N Grove Street. Feast is really cool because they do ready-to-heat meals. Like Hello Fresh or Blue Apron, except you don’t have to cook them yourself, just heat them up! I’ve been ordering from her for a few weeks now and her meals are delicious! Similar in price to the other meal kits on the market, and the portions are HUGE! I usually split one of the meals into 2. The menu changes every week and she offers delivery!

Le Bel Ange Salon is in unit 4 at 303 N Grove. I haven’t met them yet, and couldn’t find much info online, but I’m planning on popping over soon to meet them! Google says they are closed, but they are just by appointment only.

Double R&O Boxing Club is in unit 5 at 303 N Grove. I haven’t met these guys yet either, but I have a feeling that I would love boxing! Too bad I’m terrified of hurting my hands! No one wants to be around me if I can’t crochet from a hand injury!

Other Business Shout Outs:

Pinesmoke Bee Co. is run by some of the coolest people ever! TJ and Audra have been so welcoming and have allowed me to set up a pop up inside their mead bar, yes you read that right! Mead is apparently delicious! I had never had the opportunity to try it, but you should definitely stop by their bar to try it! It isn’t beer, it isn’t wine, I’m not sure how to describe it other than super yummy! They do a lot for the Eustis community and are constantly hosting different events.

Uncorked Wine Bar also needs mentioning! In 2024 they hosted our “National I Love Yarn Day” meet up, and it was there that I announced that Lake County was getting their own yarn shop in Tavares. Now in 2026 we will be joining them again this year for I Love Yarn Day, but this time as a Eustis business! Uncorked is a spacious wine bar with lots of seating, occasional live music, and a really comfortable atmosphere.

Now onto the yarn! Crochet Aweigh is boasting a comfortable 1400 square feet of community space and yarn. Upon entering you walk through the front door and are greeting with a spacious seating area with comfy sofas and arm chairs. Community is the number one around here. Being a great resource for people to come and learn new skills, meet new friends, spend time stitching together, and have access to yarns that aren’t available at large craft stores are my top priorities.

At the time of writing this post in June 2026, we have 24 different yarn companies represented. I’m frequently sourcing new items as well. And since we moved from 300 square feet to 1400 there’s lots of opportunity for growth and to fill up with more items! Out of those 24 companies, 11 of them are local to Florida. I try my best to prioritize our FL dyers for the hand dyed selections here. It’s really important to me to show some love to our locals!

As of April 2026 we started our own yarn line called Pearl & Plunder Yarn! This is a big step for us as we work on building our yarn empire. We will hard launch this new yarn line at I Love Yarn Day 2026 in October at Uncorked Wine Bar.

Some of our larger yarn companies include Cascade Yarns, Malabrigo, Circulo, Berroco, and Lion Brand Yarns. These are great options for people who aren’t looking to invest in hand dyed yarn.

Redefining the Local Yarn Shop

Sometimes there is an unfortunate stigma around local yarn shops. I have seen online people who don’t want to go to local shops because everything is too expensive, their local shop doesn’t like crocheters, only wool is allowed, they look down their noses at customers who need help with a project that is using yarn from somewhere else, etc. I have made it my personal responsibility to make sure that no one ever feels unwelcome, belittled, laughed at, or turned away at my shop. There are so many things in the world that divide us, but yarn shouldn’t be one of them. Below are things that you will and will not find at our shop.

Tolerance for negativity or bullying
Politics
Yarn discrimination – We offer acrylic here!
Discrimination against certain kinds of crafters – crocheters, knitters, felters, spinners, needlepointers, embroidery artists, quilters, and other artists are all welcome!

I think you get the idea. It makes me so sad when I see online people complaining about their local yarn shop who turned them away because they wanted to crochet instead of knit, or use acrylic for a project instead of hand dyed wool. I can’t control what happens in other shops, but I can control what goes on in mine. And not all yarn shops are bad! We’ve got several great yarn shops in the Central FL area. I just see the effects of this negative stigma all the time. Once I walked into a shop that I hadn’t been in before and I introduced myself to the owner, told her I had my own yarn shop, and she literally looked terrified, like I was going to bite her head off or something! Even this nice shop owner is dealing with the effects of the negativity surrounding local yarn shops. I reassured her that I was cool, and supportive, and complimented her shop. I spent like $200 with her that day because she was awesome and her shop had stuff I had never seen in person before, and I wanted to try it. We can support each other if we choose to.
