WIP It, Finish It, or Frog it February
February is already upon us! How is this year going so quickly?!? It has been fun to see how many crafters switched gears at the beginning of this year to either focus on a new direction with their passion, some set out to finish their old WIPs, and some decided to purge their craft stash. What better way to accomplish our goals than with a little accountability? We can do this with a Link Party dedicated to all our (and yours) craft projects!
This post is for WIP it, finish it, or frog it February, a Link party hosted by Yarn Crafts & Coffee, T&C Crafters, and Crochet Aweigh. When you link up to one of our blogs, it will show up on all 3 – triple the exposure for you! This is live on the first Sunday of the month, and end the last Friday of the month so you can share with us any day of the week throughout the entire month. Post times will vary, but you will be able to link up from midnight EST through midnight EST on the indicated dates.

For me I’ve decided to do one big project per month: a Taylor Swift-themed wedding dress. One per month, one for each of her 12 albums. If I’m lucky maybe also frog some UFOs (unfinished objects) that are in my WIP Bin. My Work in progress bin is bursting at the seams, and many of those projects I won’t ever finish. Time to clear some room! I also want to share a small yarn shop updated display at some point this month. I’m going to introduce a new table display every month at my shop, and this first display is the cat’s meow ;)

Day 1: Frog it!
On Day 1 of February I decided to frog this wedding dress I made years ago, (when I thought I would be marrying someone else, Yikes!), and it never fit quite right. It just sat around taking up space. This dress was made from Aunt Lydia’s size 3 crochet thread in the color Natural. This thread happens to be the exact color that I want for this month’s wedding dress design! This month I am designing a “Fearless” wedding dress and this champagne sort of color is just what it needs! Stay tuned for some WIP photos of the dress! I ended up with a ball of thread as big as my head!
Day 2: Wip It!
On day 2 I made some progress on the Arthur Cardigan by Johanna Gehrisch. We are doing this stranded colorwork cardigan as a class at the shop!
It uses Cascade Heritage and Kid Seta held together for the main color and 3 strands of the Kid Seta for the polka dots. Such a fun project! Managing 5 strands of yarn at once is a little tricky though!
Day 3: Design it!
Day 3 I spent a lot of time planning out the Fearless wedding dress design for this month.
This dress is going to have a golden champagne color, (like the dress I frogged day 1), a beaded bodice with a corset back, lightweight balloon sleeves, a square neckline, and vertical lacy skirt panels.
I’m going for a renaissance “Love Story” kind of vibe. What do we think so far???
Day 4: Wip It
I got 1 skirt panel done and blocked. It was important to do one and block it to make sure it was the right length and also to measure the finished width to calculate how many skirt panels I will need total. I chose a lace motif that reminded me of the sun setting between some hills. This is very Fearless-coded!
Day 5: Frog It!
Day 5 I decided to frog these Voyage mittens by Wool and Pine that I had started back in December. They are coming out WAY too small. I bought some different needles to try them again. I’m using Malabrigo Ultimate Sock minis for these and I really like how the colors are looking! Hopefully my next try will be just as pretty, but actually fit someone other than a small child.
Day 6 & 7: Wip it!
I made and blocked a few more panels for the Fearless dress. I LOVE how these panels look together!
Day 8: Finish It!
I finished the Rosebud Dreamer Tee by Journey Chanel Designs. You can read all about the pattern and more of my thoughts on it in the pattern review I wrote for Cre8tion Crochet!
Day 9: Finish It
I finally finished putting together a cat-themed display for the shop! We have a Cat amigurumi kit, T shirts, notions, project bags and other merch. The “crochet your own cat” books are so cute! My favorite thing though is the mix and match set of 18″ doll clothes that my mom made with little kitties on it!
Day 14: WIP it
I finally had all the skirt panels finished so assembly began and took 3 days! I’m running out of time!
Day 17: WIP it
By day 17 all the panels were attached and I can move onto the bodice!
Day 18: Wip It
I ran out of the main color yarn, but I can still do some more work on this dress! I did the hem of the skirt.
Day 19: Wip it
I have a funny feeling that the rest of the days in February are going to be Wip it days on this dress! I started the bodice after the new yarn arrived, and yes those are beads!
